NSCA Community Programs

NSCA is committed to providing high-quality services and programs for the English-speaking population across the North Shore. We regularly conduct research within our communities to establish the current needs of the population, and implement programs to address these needs.

Early Childhood and Youth

  1. Travelling Literacy Book Bags available in Baie-Comeau, Port-Cartier, and Sept-Îles
  2. Toddler Time in Sept-Îles: monthly fun and educational workshops for children aged 0 to 5 years, with games, crafts and healthy snacks
  3. Story Time in Port-Cartier: a monthly literacy workshop for children aged 0 to 5 years, with crafts and healthy snacks
  4. Career and entrepreneurship workshops led by career professionals
  5. Career Days for secondary-school students across the North Shore
  6. School Readiness Kits, Baby Book Bag

Seniors

  1. 50+ Wellness Programming in Sept-Îles & Baie Comeau
  2. Intergenerational activities with English schools
  3. 50+ Breakfast get-togethers
  4. Webinars and videoconferences for seniors and caregivers
  5. Annual Caregiver Conference
  6. Senior check-in service
  7. Senior volunteer program

Health and Social Services

  • Travel 4 Health online toolkit for anyone who has to travel out-of-region for health services.
  • Video conferences and presentations led by health specialists
  • Health Passport assistance at medical appointments

Arts and Culture

  • Work with partners to promote and sponsor English-language films.
  • Work with local historical, educational and community partners to develop exhibits and presentations in English.
  • Host community cohesive cultural events/activities.
  • Support and showcase the English-speaking heritage and culture.
